The theme of the day is: knitted things on cats
Oh how the creative have fallen. Not that I have set high standards for myself here, but nonetheless, I have sunk to a new low.

Utterly distracted from York (I finished the back before that happened, at least) by the rather foreign feeling of COLD FLOORS (our last apartment was a hot box year-round) I went on an epic search for that famous felted clogs pattern by Fiber Trends. I looked high and low, and even went to the biggest yarn store in Toronto (not so hard now) and rifled through their collection of FT patterns (they have at least 100). No dice. So I went with FuzzyFeet, a knitty pattern. Don't get me wrong, its a nice pattern, and suits my purposes well, but I really like the shaping of the clogs as opposed to the sock shape. AH well.

Cast on Tuesday night, watching the Fantastic Four with Gen and Corrina. Terrible movie, good for knitting.

Here is monster slipper #1, ready to be grafted (I was ready to graft it last night, but I luckily decided to wait for the sober light of day as opposed to the rosy glow of a nice zinfandel)

Socks... for Phlox!!

Sock #2 post-grafting...

My cats are so freakin' patient it is unnatural!

And just so you can see just how BIG these slippers are...

Before you call the SPCA, please consider that this last picture was taken directly after I removed the sock from Molly's head. Note that the cats have fallen back to sleep in the time it took me to pose the socks. Phlox makes an excellent end table.

Tonight... felting! I even washed dishes to free up the sink!

I love knitters with cats, they post the most awesome pictures. :D

I wanted a clog pattern the other day too but I couldn't find one!!! And I didn't like Fuzzy Feet for my purposes, and then I ran out of time, so I ended up not making felted slippers at all. *Sigh* I could swear I saw felted clogs somewhere on the internet....

I know the pattern I want, I even found it at three places, but all were part of kits that cost upwards of $60, while I had the yarn in mind already. The yarn harlot made oodles of those clogs one christmas (I seem to recall her needing to repair her washing machine as a result). The fuzzy feet are very quick knits, though. If you can do the simplest sock imaginable, you can churn out a pair of these without problems.

Cats are strange creatures. Mine show very little interest in chasing/attacking/destroying yarn, but they will try and keep me from knitting by attempting to lie on my works in progress, often while I am knitting them...

Mostly though, they just nap.

You're right, Phlox and Molly ARE super lazy these days. Cleo would have tried to kill your slippers :)
They look so goooood and must have been such a satisfying knit. I'm thinking of getting some Cascade 220 when I'm in Windsor visiting the Jane. Now I want Fuzzy Feet :)
Thanks for your counselling last night. You are like my own personal knitting hotline. You should be charging me by the minute :P

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!

Argh! Felting was not so hot. I tried it in the sink, but the best I achieved was matting... no shrinkage that I can see. Am intending to try a washing machine tonight.

Yeah, the cats are pretty sedentary right now. After we get rid of a few more boxes, they will have more space to run. Last night, Molly was watching me felt from on top of a box and she didn't even play-attack Phlox when he walked by! Just weird.

i find that soaking the item-to-be-felted in super hot water and letting it sit for a little while before hitting it with the soapy agitation works best.
